Nominated member of the ISSGME-TC215 on Environmental Geotechnics, and of the IGS-TC on Barrier systems. Board Member of the Belgian Geosynthetic Society. Member of the CEN Work Group 5 (durability) and Work Group 6 (geosynthetic barriers). Editorial Board Member, Associate and Guest Editor for various journals, including the Environmental Geotechnics journal. Chairman and member of the international technical committee for various Specialty Conferences.

Over 100 publications in International Proceedings and peer-reviewed journals, 2 granted patents on a polymer engineered clay, HYPER clay. Invited lecturer for seminars in the US, Germany, Spain, UK, Italy, South America, and Africa. Promoting research and valorization projects. Project and PhD supervisor for various international platforms (VLIR-UOS-IUC-Africa, VLIR-UOS-TEAM-South America, CSC-China, HEC-Pakistan, Cesam-South America).
